Environmental Benefits

When choosing building materials the builder and consumer must take the environment and cost into consideration. Bravo does just that and uses building materials that impact the environment less over the full life of the building structure. This is called the “life cycle” of the building, which includes the damage to the environment due to manufacturing of materials, transportation, installation, use and end of life reuse, recycling or disposal. It has been determined that 90% of a buildings impact on global warming is due to the operations so the best way to reduce the impact on our environment is reducing energy consumption.

Building Green with SIPs

SIPs reduce the impact on the environment through the use of materials that are earth friendly here is how:
The wood facings are from rapidly renewable wood species
Foam-Control EPS does not contain CFCs, HFCs, HCFC’s
R-Control SIP construction minimizes the use of traditional lumber
The Foam-Control EPS is fully recyclable
Waste is minimized by providing factory fabrication of complete building packages

The energy savings alone translate into a reduction of tons of carbon dioxide per year.

The raw materials used to make SIPs have low energy requirements to make them. Houses built from SIPs uses 85% less wood than a traditional stick frame. Not only do they use less wood but all the wood is from renewable controlled growth resources so NO old growth trees are used. Finished SIP structures take less energy to heat and cool resulting in less green house gasses being produced making less of an impact on our environment.

The Expanded Polystyrene core is also made with eco friendly materials. The EPS foam is inert, organic will no rot is non-biodegradable and resists mildew. EPS foam can be remanufactured into packaging materials or other polystyrene products therefore reducing the need to produce new materials. By taking green initiatives and designing homes and offices with the high efficiency of the insulating core the structures can achieve EPA’s ENERGY STAR Ratings or USGBC’s LEED Certification.
